DEPARTMENT   OF MANAGEMENT STUDIES

The Master of Business Administration (MBA) is the flagship program of The Oxford College of Engineering, started in the academic year 2001- 2002. MBA course is a 2 year (4 semester) full time postgraduate course approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi. 

MBA Course is designed to empower the students with skills and capabilities to reach responsible global positions in their career. To enable this status, the course emphasizes on a combination of theoretical and experiential learning. The two year degree of Master of Business Administration is an Outcome Based Education (OBE) and Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) scheme effective from the academic year 2018 – 19.  CBCS course customized the Course work, through Core, Elective and soft skill courses, that involves a combination of lectures/ field work/ outreach activities/ project work/ vocational training/ viva/ seminars/ internship/ assignments/ presentations/ self- study/ quiz etc., that help in the overall necessary support for the students to achieve their academic goals. The 1st year of the course comprises of 6 core papers in 1st semester and 6 core papers in the 2nd semester. In the 2nd year,  along with 2 core papers, the student can opt for single or dual specialization in the following streams of Marketing, Finance, Business Analytics & HR.

The MBA Program at our Department includes case-based learning, and emphasises on acquiring practical skills, establishing strong industry interface culminating in getting excellent final placements for all its MBA graduates. Highly qualified, rich experienced and dedicated faculty team is working towards excellence by creating and offering various expertise in the forms of various clubs such as Human Resources, Finance, Marketing and Case study clubs. Through the clubs students get exposure in presentations and showcasing their talents. The Department organizes regularly expert lectures, workshops, faculty development programmes, Management development programmes and also soft skill programmes by visiting Faculty and eminent personalities from the corporate.

Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs)


PEO 1
To equip the students with necessary knowledge and managerial skills to occupy positions of management and administration in business, industry, public system and the government.
PEO 2 To inculcate appropriate ethical values and attitudes among students to function effectively in the work environment
PEO 3 To provide a right mix of managerial and business exposure to function effectively in various domains of management.

Programme Specific Outcome (PSOs)
The MBA Programme imparts education and training to students in various disciplines of management, to foster the development of cognitive, affective and attitudinal skills among the student community.


PSO 1
To attain sufficient theoretical knowledge in areas of General Management, Marketing, Finance, Human Resources, Economics, Statistics and its application to solve practical problems in business.
PSO 2 An ability to demonstrate interpersonal skills, problem solving skills, and leadership qualities to facilitate management graduates to adapt to changes in the environment for self-sustenance and to enable lifelong learning.
PSO 3 To instill a practice of professional standards and ethics and a sense of social responsibility in every management graduate.
