IEEE CS TOCE Chapter

The IEEE-Computer Society, The Oxford College of Engineering Chapter was officially formed under the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, TOCE in December 2019. The student chapter began its activities with Dr R CH A Naidu, Head of Department, CSE Dept as the Chapter Advisor. Ms. Shobha T is the faculty coordinator for the chapter, and Ms. Margaret V is the current Chapter Chair.

The IEEE CS TOCE Chapter has conducted more than 20 events and webinars since its inception. During the lockdown, the chapter conducted remote seminars on platforms like Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and Cisco WebEx. These webinars were hosted by proficient speakers who had years of industrial and academic experience. Cutting Edge emerging technologies like Machine Learning, IoT and Cloud Computing was the main focus of these webinars. The CSE Department faculty provided a tremendous amount of support and assistance in organizing these events. The student members of the chapter actively participated in chapter activities.

Glimpses of webinar conducted by the students from 2019 are as follows:

Ms Harpreet Kaur hosted the ‘Intro to Git webinar. She gave an introduction to Git VCS – A vital tool for software developers. Knowledge of Version Control Systems like Git is essential for developers collaborating and working in teams.

Ms Meesala Sri Varsha hosted the Intro to AI – A guide to ML and DL webinar. Artificial Intelligence plays a major role in future technological advancements. Machine Learning and Deep Learning are some of the most promising emerging technologies.

Ms Shrilakshmi H Nayak hosted the Neural Networks: An Introduction webinar. Neural Networks act as the basic building blocks of Deep Learning. They offer enormous potential and can easily process a large quantity of data.

The IEEE CS TOCE Chapter plans on conducting more events in the future that will help the students and the members of the chapter gain new skills and knowledge.
